Oh my God you guys, I'm so obsessed with Murder One right now. Do you guys remember this show? It's basically "Veronica Mars," grown up and made bald and cranky: it traces the course of a single murder trial and the unravelling of the mystery over the season (while also dealing with trial-of-the-week cases).

It's unsubtle, at times, and there aren't many characters you can latch onto - everyone's a bastard to a different degree, and while the lead character is admirable in the way that he understands himself, understands the system, and has an unfailing code, even so he's totally cool about about defending - well - anyone. Even so the show is supremely watchable. It's interesting and well-written, and is perfectly willing to confront moral quandaries - territory most procedurals avoid.

It's also available on Hulu. So if you have some free time, I would highly recommend burning it away on that show instead of, you know, writing a novel, or becoming an accomplished polo player.

... you know you've totally just obligated me to watch this show now, right?

FUCK YEAH. It's a good show for this time of the year, too, because the mystery is engrossing but not so complex that you can't do other things at the same time - I usually sew or do my phonetic analysis while I'm watching. It's not hard to follow as long as you keep everyone straight, which can get a little hard because every last one of the actors is a Hey! It's that guy!.

Yay, thanks for the rec. I loved Veronica Mars, so I guess I will probably like this one too. :)

You did? I didn't know that. ♥

I should note it's only like VM in format, though. The tone is...not dissimilar, per se - snarky, cynical, but still oddly optimistic - but it's a lot less human. There's a bare minimum of interpersonal drama, hardly any romantic subplots or anything at all. VM was a very warm show; this is overlit and cold.

That said, it's really, really good.
